Starting approximately September 14th construction will commence on the Holmdel Township Road Improvement Program. Work designed to make travel safer and more efficient will include road milling and resurfacing, re-striping, handicap ramp upgrades, installation of regulatory and warning signs, spot curb and sidewalk repair and culvert repairs.
The Township Committee unanimously approved contracts with P&A Construction to pave over 10% of the Township’s municipal roads in the next 60 days. The investment of nearly $2.4 million will have a significant impact on the Township’s driving conditions.
“I am happy that we are beginning this long-awaited road program. It is critical that we continue to invest in our transportation infrastructure,” said Mayor Greg Buontempo. “Making our streets more accessible is a top priority. I ask my fellow residents for their patience in the upcoming weeks while the work crews get this job done.”
Residents will be notified of road closures as the project progresses. A complete list of roads is included in the September Edition of Holmdel Monthly or on the Township’s website.
Each year the roads to be repaved are determined by an in-depth physical inspection by the Road Department. The Department annually rates every municipal street based on several factors including but not limited to potholes, crocodile cracking, surface structure and structural cracking. With over 100 miles of roads in Holmdel, the Township strives to ensure that those most in need of attention are paved.
Holmdel values the input of its residents. Individuals wishing to suggest a road for future consideration can email email@example.com and the request will be noted during the inspection process.
